Bleachers : i.e. the "Grannies" of today's shirtmakers. Till the mid-1800s they were, within the Dressmakers' Guild, the experts whose task was not just to cut and make up both shirts and blouses but to wash and iron them as well.
 


 
Monogram : a refined shirt complement which must be embroidered on the left front, 12-15cm above the waistline, in a contrasting colour (preferably blue) if the shirt is in linen or cotton, the same colour if in silk.
 

 
Two dozen : according to contemporary "arbiter elegantiarum", it is the right number of shirts a refined man should keep in his wardrobe.
